Sunny will not be returning for a second season. According to Screen Daily, Apple TV+ has cancelled the science-fiction drama series after only one season. The first season of Sunny was released in September and ended with a cliffhanger.

Rashida Jones, Joanna Sotomura, You, Annie, Judy Ongg, and Jun Kunimura star in the Apple TV+ series. The story follows Suzie Sakamoto, an American woman (Jones) living in Kyoto who has been gifted a domestic robot after her husband and son have died in a mysterious plane crash.

Created by Katie Robbins and inspired by the Colin O’Sullivan novel The Dark Manual, season one follows the woman as she develops a friendship with Sunny and investigates what happened to her husband and son.

The first season of ten episodes was filmed entirely in Japan and was released between July and September of this year.

What do you think? Did you watch Sunny? Were you hoping for a second season?
