UPDATED with full winners list: The year’s biggest names in music gathered Wednesday at UBS Arena in Long Island, NY, for a chance to take home a Moon Person.
Hosted by Megan Thee Stallion, the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards featured the likes of Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Glorilla, Karol G and LL Cool J, making his first VMAs gig in over 25 years, all while celebrating the best performances of the year.
Taylor Swift, who came in with 10 nominations, led the pack at the awards show with five wins in total including Artists of the Year; the other for came for “Fortnight,” her duet with Post Malone. Other wins came from Ariana Grande, Eminem, Megan Thee Stallion and SZA. Sabrina Carpenter won Song of the Year (“Espresso”) while Chappell Roan won Best New Artist.

Carpenter and Roan were among this year’s crop of first-time nominees, which also includes Teddy Swims, Benson Boone, Tyla, Jelly Roll, Jessie Murph, Rauw Alejandro, Sexyy Red, Victoria Monét, Alexander Stewart, Burna Boy, Coco Jones, Flyana Boss, Gracie Abrams, Gunna, Joyner Lucas, Laufey, LE SSERAFIM, Lojay, Morgan Wallen, Myke Towers, NCT Dream, Pheelz, Playboi Carti, RAYE, Shaboozey, Tyler Childers and The Warning.
Meanwhile, Katy Perry received this year’s Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. She also won for Most Iconic Performance.
The 2024 MTV VMAs was previously scheduled for Tuesday before it was postponed so not to conflict with the presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump on ABC. Falling on the 23rd anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, MTV also honored the nonprofits 9/11 Day and Tuesday’s Children.
