Julia Louis-Dreyfus is shutting down the comparisons between Vice President Kamala Harris and her fictional Veep character, Selina Meyer.

In a new interview, the star of the HBO comedy series explained why Selina Meyer is not like the Democratic Presidential nominee despite sharing a similar trajectory.

“People might need reminding that Selina Meyer and Kamala Harris are not alike,” Louis-Dreyfus told Stephen Colbert on The Late Show. “On Veep, I played a narcissistic, like, megalomaniac sociopath, and that is not Kamala Harris. It might be another candidate in the race…”

Colbert asked Louis-Dreyfus if she could assign a character that resembled Republican Vice Presidential nominee JD Vance, which one it would be, and she said, “That would be Jonah Ryan.”

In the Veep series, Timothy Simons plays Jonah Ryan, a power-hungry White House aide who eventually becomes the Vice President of the U.S. and is subsequently impeached.

Colbert made reference to the unfounded Vance and couch rumors asking, “Can you imagine Jonah being sexually attracted to an ottoman, or something like that?”

Louis-Dreyfus replied, “I think you mean a couch. And I’m sure he’s made love to many a couches.”

After Joe Biden announced he would not continue a run for a second term at the White House and Harris became the eventual nominee, viewership surged for Veep, but the creator of the series is reminding viewers the show was all fiction.

“Let’s remind ourselves that #Veep has already written a fictional version of this script .. Kamala inherits the actual presidency. Then runs. The electoral college is tied. The house vote is tied. Which means the Senate has to choose the tie breaking candidate. And that ends up with … JD Vance as POTUS (Nb this is DRAMA …)” wrote one fan.

Armando Iannucci quoted the post and added: “Don’t forget we made all that up, though.”
