Three Women Season 1 Episode 6 Review: Climax

Spoilers
Critic’s Rating: 3.8 / 5.0

In Three Women, Season 1 Episode 6, all three leading ladies—Lina, Sloane, and Maggie—strived to find happiness and freedom.

This installment featured some raw and sexy lovemaking scenes and romantic drama, which is a huge plus.

However, returning to showcasing all three stories simultaneously did not work since it switched to another arc as soon as I began to invest in one.

The general theme of this episode was about love, sex, and orgasms, ranging from an innocent girl’s first time to learning how to feel cherished again.

Can A Marriage Survive a Partner Like Will?

I love Sloane and Will’s chemistry, but it’s difficult to like her sometimes when Richard is such a devoted husband. She wants to have her cake and eat it, too.

Richard adored her, so he changed his mind after seeing how Will transformed their backyard into a winter wonderland for a sledding party.

Richard’s worldly, so I’m unsure why he thought things wouldn’t get complicated by asking Will to play with them. He has eyes and has seen their chemistry, right?

Will didn’t care about the swinging or that this might mess things up with Lily.

He only wanted Sloane. This was a delightful, messy love triangle where both men are stand-up guys and have chemistry with the leading lady.

The cinematography and scenery were the best during Sloane’s arc, and the glistening snow hill was gorgeous as the three of them raced down it.

The scenes went from the cold snow to smoldering bedroom scenes, where Sloane and Will begin kissing, with Richard awkwardly watching.

DeWanda Wise excels in these sexy dancing and kissing scenes. She and Blair Redford ooze chemistry as things get hot and heavy between Sloane and Will.

Just like Lina did with Aiden, Sloane experienced an exploding orgasm. She always seems freer and happier with Will.

However, if that’s true and it was not just an itch or a fling, she must end her marriage with Richard.

Learning How To Feel Cherished After Being In A Loveless Marriage

Lina finally reached her limit and asked for a separation from Ed. He thought she would stick around forever since he dared to laugh in her face.

As mentioned in Three Women Season 1 Episode 2, their marriage seemed old-fashioned since Ed barely knew how to interact with his children.

No wonder Lina had such low expectations for a new relationship.

She had gotten used to going to the hotel for a quickie with Aiden, and this time, he ordered food and wanted to talk about their future, including taking her on a tropical island vacation.

Hopefully, he meant that because those things meant the world to Lina. She craved feeling wanted and cherished as much as she needed affection.

Seeing him stroke her hair and cuddle her was meaningful before they resumed making out. He ensured he took care of her needs and ensured her orgasms since her needs had been ignored for so long.

Lina had never looked that happy or in love. But Aiden was still married, and so was she. So, what’s next for them?

Reliving Her Intimate Affair With Her Teacher

Sloane and Lina’s sexual experiences were hot and sexy. Maggie’s might have been if it had been with someone age-appropriate.

However, her first meaningful physical relationship was with her high school teacher, Aaron Knodel. While she lost her virginity in Hawaii, that was more of a learning experience.

While Sloane and Lina just experienced their best sexual experiences, Maggie was traumatized by retelling hers in a deposition.

It looked like one on Law & Order: SVU, where Mr. Knodel’s lawyer was more concerned about what she wore and said to entice him.

Maggie had to feel like the other woman since she was only allowed in the cold basement when his wife was out of town and his children were asleep.

He tried to make things romantic by selecting a movie and gift for her that reminded him of their relationship, but it just seemed creepy.

He was the one who asked her to kiss him and led her to the spare bedroom, yet he maintained that she seduced him and that he wanted to wait until she was legally an adult. You can’t have it both ways, buddy.

Maggie seemed so hurt during the deposition since he cared more about her wrecking the sheets than caring that it was her first time.

But nothing prepared her for the fact that he made her read their sonnet aloud in English class.

She fell apart as she retold that, wondering why no one cared about her feelings.

Why This Format Breaks Up Emotional Arcs

While typically showing parallels between characters’ works, switching back and forth between the women in this episode seemed abrupt and choppy.

If the series wanted to highlight all three women together, it would have been better to do it in separate 20-minute increments like in Three Women Season 1 Episode 1.

We would have seen each woman’s similar storyline without important scenes ending abruptly and shifting to another.

Over to you, Three Women Fanatics. What did you think of this sexy episode? Did you enjoy the different format?

We would love to hear your thoughts, so let us know in the comments.

Three Women airs on Starz on Fridays at 10/9c and on the Starz app at midnight on Fridays.
