When does The Diplomat Season 2 come out?

The second season of the political drama arrives Oct. 31 on Netflix.

How many episodes are in Season 2 of The Diplomat?

There are six episodes in Season 2.

Did Hal Wyler die in Season 1 of The Diplomat?

No. Although an explosion at the end of Season 1 in the heart of London put Kate Wyler’s (Russell) husband Hal’s (Rufus Sewell) life in danger, he will be back alive and well in Season 2. His fate was revealed in the Season 2 trailer, where, despite being a bit banged up from the explosion, he’s standing by his wife’s side as she continues to take on foreign (and domestic) adversaries in the new episodes.

Who else is in The Diplomat Season 2?

The show stars Rory Kinnear as Nicol Trowbridge, Celia Imrie as Margaret Roylin, Ali Ahn as Eldra Park, David Gyasi as Austin Dennison and newcomer Alison Janney in the guest star role of Vice President Grace Penn.

Is there a trailer for The Diplomat Season 2?

Yes, the full trailer arrived in October. A teaser had previously arrived in September.

Who is behind The Diplomat?

Debora Cahn (The West Wing, Homeland) is the creator and showrunner of The Diplomat as well as an executive producer. Russell also executive produces alongside Janice Williams and Alex Graves.

What happened in Season 1 of The Diplomat?

Season 1 watched Russell’s Kate Wyler, a seasoned foreign service officer who thrives in a crisis zone, have her plans of taking a post in Afghanistan switched up when the White House sends her to London as the U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom with a potential future gig as Vice President.

Her new role will include defusing international crises, forging strategic alliances in London and adjusting to time in the spotlight, all while balancing her relationship with fellow career diplomat Hal Wyler, who isn’t used to sharing the spotlight with his wife.

Kate discovered in the final moments of Season 1’s finale that Rory Kinnear’s British Prime Minister Nicol Trowbridge planned the explosion on a British aircraft carrier that set things in motion in the series pilot. A second explosion occurred in that last episode as well, this time in the heart of London, threatening the lives of Hal (Rufus Sewell), Deputy Chief of Mission Stuart Hayford (Ato Essandoh), office clerk Ronnie (Jess Chanliau), and MP Merritt Grove (Simon Chandler).

Will there be more seasons of The Diplomat?

Yes! Netflix renewed the series in October ahead of the Season 2 premiere. Production already is underway in London and New York, according to the streamer.

“Season 3 flips the chessboard. Kate lives the particular nightmare that is getting what you want,” creator and showrunner Debora Cahn said in a statement.
