After a week of unrest and rioting in Britain, far-right protesters were overwhelmed on Wednesday evening by peaceful demonstrations against racism.
Veep creator Armando Iannucci was among those who saw the images of counter-protesters thronging British streets and thrust the images under the nose of Elon Musk.
“You seeing this,” he asked Musk, reposting an image of demonstrators forming a ring around anti-immigration protesters in Brighton. “Civil society, not civil war. Do please repost,” Iannucci added.
The Twitter/X owner has spent days stoking tensions in the UK, attacking Prime Minister Keir Starmer and claiming that Britain is on the brink of “civil war.”
Musk has also allowed misinformation to spread on his platform and posted a series of memes arguing that UK authorities were attempting to oppress free speech.
At the time of publication, Musk had not commented on the counter-protests or the largely peaceful night in the UK.
He did, however, repeat his attack on British authorities for cracking down on social media users who incite racial hatred. “The Woke Stasi,” he claimed.
