John Carroll Lynch Joins Amazon’s Renée Ballard Series

John Carroll Lynch has been cast as a series regular opposite Maggie Q in Prime Video‘s Untitled Renee Ballard Series, a Bosch spinoff.

The Untitled Renée Ballard series follows Detective Renée Ballard (Q), who is tasked with running the LAPD’s new cold case division—a poorly funded, all-volunteer unit with the largest case load in the city. Ballard approaches these frozen-in-time cases with empathy and determination. When she uncovers a larger conspiracy during her investigations, she’ll lean on the assistance of her retired ally, Harry Bosch, to navigate the dangers that threaten both her unit and her life.

Lynch will play Thomas Laffont, a retired former police partner who comes back to help Ballard (Q) run the Cold Case Department. A kind, seasoned detective, and crack interrogator — he’s a rock for Ballard.

In addition to Q, Lynch also joins previously cast Courtney Taylor as who plays Samira Parker, a member of Ballard’s team.

Q’s Renée Ballard character will first be introduced in the Season 3 finale of another Bosch spinoff, Bosch: Legacy, before headlining her own series.

Jet Wilkinson serves as executive producer on the Renée Ballard offshoot alongside Michael Connelly, Trish Hofmann, Michael Alaimo, and Kendall Sherwood. Henrik Bastin and Melissa Aouate executive produce for Fabel Entertainment, with Jasmine Russ serving as co-executive producer. Additional co-executive producers include Jamie Boscardin Martin and Trey Batchelor, with Theresa Snider co-executive producing under Hieronymus Pictures.

Lynch appears in the final season of Paramount+’s Evil. Other recent series credits include recurring roles in White House Plumbers, Gaslit, American Horror Story, and a series regular role in Big Sky. He is repped by Suskin/Karshan Management and Schreck Rose Dapello.
