All-star Shohei Ohtani has decided to sell his sprawling mansion in La Cañada Flintridge, California for $7.85 million without ever moving in.
La Cañada Flintridge is located about 10 miles north of Dodger Stadium. The home was purchased through a limited liability company, Decopin LLC, the name of Ohtani’s dog.
A report in Japanese media says “Ohtani said that he could no longer live in the 1.2 billion yen mansion he had purchased, and indicated his intention to sell it without moving into his new home.”
The home was formerly owned by comedian Adam Carolla. Ohtani’s every move is heavily covered in Japanese media, and hints about the address were revealed by various publications.
Ohtani was angered by two Japanese outlets — Fuji TV and Nippon TV — revealing the address of the house and sending reporters to take pictures, film, and interview neighbors unaware that Ohtani would be a resident in the neighborhood.
Fuji TV has since issued an apology from president Koichi Minato.
