EXCLUSIVE: Trending, the media company launched by Call Your Daddy’s Alex Cooper and To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before producer Matt Kaplan, has hired former Meta and MTV exec Mina Lefevre.

Lefevre joins the company as chief content officer of television.

Trending is a Gen-Z focused company that includes ACE Entertainment, which was founded by Kaplan, Call Her Daddy and talent network The Unwell Network.

Lefevre will oversee its scripted and unscripted television content.

She left Facebook owner Meta earlier this year as part of a round of layoffs at the social networking company after it moved out of original programming.

Lefevre spent around six years at the company as head of development and programming, where she developed and produced original series for Facebook Watch as well as its other services including Oculus, Messenger, and Instagram. This included Red Table Talk with Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith and Adrienne Banfield-Norris as well as its Gloria Estefan spinoff as well as unscripted series Steve on Watch with Steve Harvey, Piece of Mind with Taraji with Taraji P. Henson, a reboot of the reality hit MTV’s The Real World, 9 Months with Courteney Cox, Unfiltered: Paris Jackson, The Biebers on Watch and Tom vs. Time with Tom Brady.

On the scripted side, she was behind Elizabeth Olsen-fronted Sorry For Your Loss and Sacred Lies as well as an adaptation of podcast Limetown with Jessica Biel and Stanley Tucci.

Before she joined Facebook, Lefevre was EVP and head of scripted at MTV. She oversaw its scripted department that was responsible for series including Awkward, Faking It, Scream, Finding Carter and The Shannara Chronicles.

She was also VP, development & programming at ABC Family, where she was behind Pretty Little Liars, The Fosters and Melissa & Joey.

In addition to Call Her Daddy, The Unwell Network’s slate includes Hot Mess with Alix Earle and Pretty Lonesome with Madeline Argy. Meanwhile, ACE Entertainment recently launched Netflix rom-com film Love at First Sight and is behind Netflix series XO, Kitty.

“I am thrilled to be joining the incredibly talented team at Trending at such a pivotal time,” said Lefevre. “Alex Cooper and Matt Kaplan are a bold creative force that understand not only how to create content but also actively shape the cultural conversations for Gen-Z. I am excited about the opportunities ahead to work with today’s leading creators and storytellers.”

“Mina Lefevre has an extraordinary track record in shepherding premium content and prestige television that speaks to the cultural zeitgeist,” said Kaplan and Cooper. “Having worked with her previously at MTV, Mina will once again bring her wealth of experience, robust relationships with talent and create shows that push the creative boundaries in storytelling.”
